How Much Does the Abortion Pill Cost?
At oyrafem, the cost of abortion pills ranges from $0–399 for online care or $0–$475 for an in-office abortion pill appointment at one of our locations. The exact price depends on factors such as whether an ultrasound is needed or wanted and your eligibility for financial assistance. For other providers, abortion pills generally cost between $300 and $800, depending on your health insurance and provider.
The price of Mifepristone and Misoprostol may vary, but if you are further than 12 weeks along, you may not be eligible for the abortion pill. In that case, you may need to undergo an in-office procedure or MVA, which could affect your costs. In some areas, in-office abortions may cost less, while in others, the price may be higher.
When seeking abortion care, we recommend finding a provider who is transparent about their pricing and willing to answer all your questions. It’s crucial to distinguish between genuine abortion care providers and crisis pregnancy centers that may attempt to sway your decision by posing as legitimate care providers.
Can I Get Financial Assistance for Abortion Care?
If you don’t have health insurance and need help paying for your care, our staff at oyrafem can assist you with applying for discounts through our financial assistance partners. Additionally, if you do not live near an oyrafem health center, there may be an abortion assistance fund available to help offset (or even cover) the cost of your abortion. For more information, visit Abortion Funds, which provides a comprehensive guide to connect you with local funding resources.
Will My Insurance Cover the Abortion Pill?
At oyrafem, we strive to work with as many insurance providers as possible, including Medicaid in select states. Be sure to check our costs page for the latest information. If you have insurance, give us a call, and we’ll help you understand what’s covered and what you may need to pay out of pocket.
In most cases, whether your insurance covers the abortion pill depends on where you live and the provider you see. We recommend reviewing this chart from the National Women’s Law Center to understand how local laws may affect your coverage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to call your provider directly with your health insurance information to confirm if the abortion pill is covered.
