When the news broke that the Supreme Court had stayed the 5th Circuit’s decision to restrict access to mifepristone, many of us at oyrafem breathed a collective sigh of relief. We paused our contingency plans, reassured our team, and continued our operations in the 18 states we serve. But there was no celebration.
This baseless attempt to limit access to a safe and effective medication should never have been part of the national discourse, and it should not have made its way to the highest court. However, we understand that the vocal minority of anti-choice extremists will continue their relentless efforts to limit access to safe and effective abortion care. To them, we say, “Try and stop us.”
We Will Not Be Intimidated
We are undeterred. We refuse to back down. Our focus remains on the future — one where abortion is safe, legal, and accessible to all, free from stigma and barriers. No matter the opposition, we will continue providing respectful, affordable, and thoughtful abortion care to those who seek it. We will keep working toward a future where access to abortion is convenient, available in all 50 states, and free of restrictions. We firmly believe that everyone has the right to make their own decisions about their body, their future, and their reproductive health, regardless of income, immigration status, physical ability, zip code, political views, or religious beliefs.
Standing Together for Bodily Autonomy
We are not alone in this fight. We are proud to be part of the majority of Americans who support access to abortion care. We will not allow the small minority of anti-choice extremists to dictate our future. But to continue this fight, we need your support.
