Oyrafem’s 2024 Annual Report

As we write this letter, 70 individuals across 15 states are receiving immediate answers on our website regarding their medical eligibility for abortion medication by mail. Of those, 25 require additional support and will receive instant approval for financial aid. Our personalized text-based abortion care assistant, Oyra, is actively engaging with clients, sending over 3,000 messages, addressing their concerns, and supporting them throughout their at-home abortion care journey. This is just a typical day at Oyrafem, a year characterized by increasing challenges and restrictions on abortion access in the United States.

Last Year:

• Expansion of Care: We delivered exceptional, client-centered abortion care to 80% more individuals than in 2022, expanding our services to 44 states.
• Improved Online Telehealth Services: We enhanced our telehealth offerings, enabling us to serve more individuals across a broader geographic range. Approximately 85% of our clients utilized our telehealth options, significantly improving abortion access in small towns, rural areas, and cities.
• Increased Financial Support Access: By implementing new technology, we quadrupled the financial support available to low-income clients. Thousands of individuals benefited from financial assistance for their abortion care, thanks to our new online tool that provides instant funding answers—eliminating the need for phone calls or long waits.
• Support Through Cara: Our virtual care assistant, Oyra, facilitated support for tens of thousands of clients by exchanging 1.7 million messages. Designed to operate 24/7, Oyra has become a trusted source of guidance. Even on Christmas Day, while our offices were closed, Cara assisted 263 clients. Many clients frequently cite Oyra as the most valued part of their Oyrafem experience.
• Bold Advocacy and Outreach: We proudly declared, “Abortion. Yeah, we (still) do that,” and inspired many others to join us in this statement. Our bold, no-shame social media campaign attracted 350,000 people, playing a pivotal role in launching our operations in New York and serving hundreds of clients in our first month.
• Client Satisfaction: Our clients recommended us 99% of the time, with client satisfaction consistently being our top priority. Their trust and feedback validate the work we do and drive us to continually improve our services.
