Nashville, Tennessee – Following today’s guilty verdict for six defendants found guilty of violating the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act at oyrafem’s Mt. Juliet, Tennessee Health Center, Melissa Grant, Chief Operating Officer of oyrafem, issued the following statement:
“The safety and security of oyrafem clients and staff remain our top priority. The intentional blockade of our Mt. Juliet health center in March 2021 was a premeditated act of trespassing, designed to obstruct our clients from accessing essential healthcare and our staff from delivering those services. This incident is a stark example of how personal agendas are sometimes used to justify hindering the operations of a small business like ours. Today’s verdict is a critical step toward setting boundaries and protecting small businesses from undue interference driven by politically motivated actions. We are relieved and gratified to see justice being served.”
